Loss Of Scalp Hair Causes
About 10 percent of the hair on your scalp, at any one time, is in a resting phase. After 2 to 3 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place. Certain infections can cause loss of scalp hair. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines. Some women ages 30 - 60 may notice a thinning of the hair that affects the entire scalp. The loss of scalp hair may be heavier at first, and then gradually slow or stop. This is generally the least expensive and safest approach to hair loss. Hair pieces should not be sutured to the scalp because of the risk of scars and infection. A careful medical history and examination of the hair and scalp are usually enough to diagnose the cause of your loss of scalp hair. At any time, about ninety percent of a person's scalp hair is growing, a phase that lasts between two and six years.
